AHEC Northeast hosts Jonesboro MASH Camp

Heart dissection, casting, ropes course, surgery, ultrasounds, prosthetics, athletic training… you name it, we’ve got it at the Jonesboro MASH program at AHEC Northeast. This year 20 students were able to shadow 5 days in various locations such as ICU, Emergency Department, Phyiscal Therapy, Radiology, Surgery, Family Practice, Veterinary, Dentistry, Prosthetics and Orthotics, Oncology, and more! Combined “Day in the Life” Event at East Arkansas Community College in Forrest City

At the end of April this year, UAMS Health Careers Recruiters Yalanda Young (AHEC-NE) and Janet Ligon (Delta AHEC), joined forces to bring a “Day in the Life” program to Forrest City. East Arkansas Community College (EACC) generously hosted the event for 20+ students from surrounding rural areas. They learned about a number of different career opportunities in the healthcare industry and learned their way around the EACC campus.

A day in a life of “Variety”

8 Marshallese girls from Springdale High School participated in A day of a life of “Variety” on Saturday May 14th.  Our guest speakers included a nurse, a dietitian; a dental assistant and a physical therapist.  This program was open to Marshallese girls who are interested in a medical career. Lunch was provided by the Marshallese Women of NWA.
